Phee’s Makeup Singles

Indi brand, Phee’s Makeup, has new singles – all shade-shifty, pigment rich and exciting. I’ve been meaning to write about these since before Christmas but didn’t get to them, so it’s more accurate to say that they were new a while ago!

The one that’s really intriguing is Citrine (in the foreground) because it looks a burgundy, rouge noir shade in the pan, but turns into a deep copper brown on the skin. If I’m honest, I prefer the look in the pan to the skin shade, because I’m obsessed with that black-red type of shade but it’s also made me think about the alchemy of colour blending.

Don’t even mention my bumpy skin! It’s freezing in my kitchen and goosebumps on swatches are unavoidable although I do try for it not to happen (secret life of blogging – resting arm on hotwater bottle and never rolling your sleeves up until the very last second!). But you can see how gleamy and sheen hit these colours are. First is Smoky Quartz, Citrine, Aquamarine and then finally Moonstone. These are £8.50 each in the pan and I like that you can buy them as singles – we’re obsessed with palettes but if we’re honest, half the shades go unused, so custom building your own is the way forward.
