Givenchy Ombre Couture

I’ve got an absolute weakness for cream eyeshadows and when I saw these at the launch back in October time, I couldn’t wait for them to appear. The only one I don’t have in this line-up is the navy shade, but the colours are so wearable and the lighter shades are perfect on their own or as background shades to add more dramatic colours over the top.

I love that they’re all muted – really sophisticated shades and nothing shouty for those who don’t like super-brights on their eyes. So, the bottom row shows: Gris Organza, Beige Mousseline and Prune Taffetas. The middle row shows: Kaki Brocart, Brun Cachemire and my favourite colour Rose Dentelle. Top row shows Taupe Veloure and Blanc Satin, a topcoat that adds shimmer to any of the colours or is actually very pretty on its own.

At £18 each you might want to use the at-counter laminates that I showed yesterday HERE to make really sure you have the one (or eight!) that you really want. Texture wise, they’re smooth and blendable; I did some smudging and the formula doesn’t set so quickly you can’t do anything with it, but you do need to be sharp-ish when blending. The shades have 16 hour hold (haven’t tested for that long but can guarantee at least 8 hours because I wore Rose Dentelle yesterday) and they’re totally amenable to being swiped on the lid with a finger – in fact, I think you get a better result than with a brush (although a billion make-up artists will disagree!). They’re launching on 1st February.
