I’ve got an absolute weakness for cream eyeshadows and when I saw these at the launch back in October time, I couldn’t wait for them to appear. The only one I don’t have in this line-up is the navy shade, but the colours are so wearable and the lighter shades are perfect on their own or as background shades to add more dramatic colours over the top.
Givenchy Ombre Couture SwatchI love that they’re all muted – really sophisticated shades and nothing shouty for those who don’t like super-brights on their eyes. So, the bottom row shows: Gris Organza, Beige Mousseline and Prune Taffetas. The middle row shows: Kaki Brocart, Brun Cachemire and my favourite colour Rose Dentelle. Top row shows Taupe Veloure and Blanc Satin, a topcoat that adds shimmer to any of the colours or is actually very pretty on its own.
At £18 each you might want to use the at-counter laminates that I showed yesterday HERE to make really sure you have the one (or eight!) that you really want. Texture wise, they’re smooth and blendable; I did some smudging and the formula doesn’t set so quickly you can’t do anything with it, but you do need to be sharp-ish when blending. The shades have 16 hour hold (haven’t tested for that long but can guarantee at least 8 hours because I wore Rose Dentelle yesterday) and they’re totally amenable to being swiped on the lid with a finger – in fact, I think you get a better result than with a brush (although a billion make-up artists will disagree!). They’re launching on 1st February.
