Okay, so there is no way in the world that W7 Shade & Swap should cost the best part of a fiver, but it’s such a genius and simple product and it really works!
It’s just a little pot with a kind of mesh inside (a bit like wire wool but obviously not wire – plastic wool maybe) that you push your brush over when you’ve used a colour. It kind of ‘dusts off’ the brush and leaves none of the colour there so you can go straight to another shade. I tested this on a very dark shade with shimmer (from Fortune) and it worked absolutely perfectly, leaving no trace of colour or shimmer on the brush.
I think there is probably a way to replicate the W7 Shade & Swap at home without buying the actual product, but I can see it lasting more or less forever so maybe the initial outlay isn’t so high. Just a very simple idea that works very, very well. It’s launching any day now HERE.

Love this idea!!!
Compared the the ‘Color Switch’ I picked up at Sephora earlier this year ($18), a fiver sounds like a bargain! Although the Sephora one is quite large at around 3″ diameter. Works really well though!

This sounds a lot like Color Switch. A great product, but I made my own DIY version by taking a hair donut (not sure what you call them in the UK, but I’m referring to those mesh forms you use to make a perfect chignon) and putting it inside an empty container. I used an empty Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm pot that I ran through the dishwasher. It works beautifully and only cost me about two dollars.
Yea it sounds like a Vero Mona copy and I too did the same with the hair donut-which works perfect! But this pot looks cute and perfect for travel 🙂
I wanted one of these due to my unfortunate habit of swirling my brushes on my thigh to clean them, often (unsurprisingly) leaving muddy eyeshadow marks on my jeans. However I noticed they are very similar in texture to the cheap hair donuts you get for padding your messy bun out with, and have found they work too. Mine was £1 from primark and does the trick brilliantly.
you can get very large versions of these on ebay for less than £5, or go to a special effects makeup store and buy a stipple sponge, which is basically what this is in a pot.
I got one from EBay for about £1.50 – had to wait as it came from China but works a treat.
