Illuminum is quite the fragrance of the moment, thanks to Kate Middleton, or rather, Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridgeshire as she is now, choosing to wear White Gardenia Petals on her wedding day. Obviously, there is now a wait-list as long as your arm for this fragrance, but while the next batch is infusing (apparantly it takes a little while, like wine, to reach its optimum quality), there’s news of a further range from Illuminum. In a nod to his hair styling past, Michael Boadi is bringing out a range of fragrances for hair to launch on 1st July.
Actually, this is a really good idea, especially for those who have sensitive skin and find it hard to tolerate fragrance directly on their skin. Reactions are made worse in summer when sunlight reacts with the alcohol and can end up causing a rash. And, of course, because hair is porous, it should, in theory, hold the scent for longer than skin can.
The Hair Perfumes contain low alcohol levels, is boosted with UVA and UVB screens to protect hair from sunlight, and the formula also contains Vitamin B5 and Keratin. Lastly, it contains conditioning agents that are activated by heated appliances, such as straighteners.
So, the line up is White Gardenia Petals, Skin Petals, Tahitian Yuzu and Rose Oud, and the perfumes will cost £50 from the busiest website in the UK right now, www.roullierwhite.com.
