Fornasetti Candles

I love a candle, and really have to admit to being taken with these very graphic and stylised ones from Fornasetti. They’re real statement pieces and ornamental as well as functional. Infused with the fragrance, Otto, created by Olivier Polge (who created Flowerbomb, Dior Homme and Balenciaga Paris to name but a few) which is heady, incense fuelled and cut with Mediterranean herb notes such as lavender and thyme, it’s a beguiling scent. Each exterior candle design has a story to it, but this is a blog, not a book. A couple of my favourite designs are here:

They’re not cheap, at £99 (at Selfridges), but they are rather beautiful. Originally created by Milanese painter, book engraver, interior designer and sculptor, Piero Fornasetti, the range is now under the creative direction of Barnaba, his son. Fornasetti make wallpapers, fabrics, ceramic tiles and jewellery.
