Oh gosh.. when your ‘face’ puts their foot in it. If you’re a regular reader of BBB, then you’ll know I’m not really that keen on ‘faces’ for brands – they don’t sway me at all and are often airbrushed out of all recognition, but I’m genuinely scratching my head at Lancome’s decision here to collaborate with Caroline de Maigret on a make up range. I mean, she is very cool, very sophisticated and I get all that about her – who wouldn’t take some inspiration from her style? But, I did a quick google search and found this quote from a 2012 interview with website IntoTheGloss.com where she says, “For skin, I have a tendency to buy everything that tells me I’m going to look younger, but it never works. [Laughs] Like this Lancôme Génifique—sometimes I use it when I’m bored. ” I know make-up and skin care are two entirely different things, but still.. Caroline says of the Lancome collaboration, ” “I am delighted by this collaboration, which is unlike any other and which truly reflects Lancome.” She goes on to say, “It’s the beginning of a lovely adventure with this brand that I love so much.” Which just makes my eyes rolllllllll!
