Dear Rose is certainly making its mark amongst fragrance lovers – especially lovers of rose. Founded by mother and daughter, Chantal and Alexandra Roos, the range began with five very different, but distinctly rose led fragrances and Nymphessence is their newest venture.
The thing you need to know is that these fragrances are incredible quality – they’re as far from high street as the Himalyas and that’s very obvious in the delicacy, the subtlty and longevity. Nymphessence is shot through with orange blossom which my nose immediately picks up, as well as pear, mandarin orange and bergamot. It’s woody, with white musk and amber in the base but somehow retains a lightness. It’s certainly the kind of scent that you want to smell over and over. Because it doesn’t seem to tire on the skin every time you do smell it, it’s fresh all over again.
The bottle has a rose-gold overlay, as does the box which I expect is something symbolic but it is lost on me. Dear Rose is sold in Harrods in the UK, and typically this is the one that isn’t in stock right now. However, if you’re now craving roses, try Bloody Rose – a rose adventure with orange flower and ylang ylang. Although the brand plays with other notes and ingredients, rose is always predominant – your first impression will always be that of the rose. I know that perfume afficionados can get quite weak over the rose as a fragrance ingredient – this must be setting them off to new levels of fragrance fainting! The price for the Dear Rose EDPs is £105 HERE but I think that Nymphessence will be more.. because of the bottle.
