The Troi Ollivierre Lipsticks launched in the US last year – and at launch sold out before they even hit the stores. I think two went into J Crew while the rest were available on Troi’s website. If you aren’t familiar with the name, Troi Ollivierre is the J Crew hair and makeup stylist responsible for the classic fresh skin lip pop J Crew look. I’m still holding it against J Crew that their £ and $ rates are so stacked against us in the UK, but that’s not Troi’s fault!
All the Troi Ollivierre Lipsticks are matte – but very soft textured mattes; there is slip on the lip that lasts well and colour saturation is good. All the shades are flattering, won’t scare anyone, colours but they are vibrant so that the colour pop shows well. All the shades have been given boys names and people will inevitably draw a similarity with the Tom Ford mini lipsticks, all named for men. I’ll just say that the Troi Ollivierre collection launched before the Tom Ford, but I bet there’s a story in there somewhere. It’s always a good sign when you find a brand from a makeup artist – they’ve spent years mixing, matching and applying, and the Troi Ollivierre fresh look is one that suits all women, regardless of age or tone. If you like mattes, I think this are at the top of their game. I’m hoping he might make some satins for the matte-scared like me and in fact, I’d wear all of these colours as glosses… hint.
Swatches from bottom to top are: Louis, Atticus, George, Toni, Parker and Bob. I love the name Bob for a lipstick – need a Dave now and lipstick life is complete! They’re all available HERE at Sablebeauty for £24 each. Actually, I’ve noticed that Sable has taken on Stix lipsticks – a squared off edge lipstick that I blogged a few weeks ago. I like how this site is shaping up to stock some adventurous and hard to find products; it’s definitely one to watch.
