Well, this is a happy find! I’m not sure how I missed the Pupacats on Escentual before Christmas but I did. Pupa was quite easy to find several years ago in the UK (it’s an Italian brand), then it suddenly disappeared and was impossible to find. I’ve wondered whether it still exists at all, but here’s the evidence. I have, in my ‘keep’ collection, several Pupa bits and pieces because they were doing exciting and highly visual packaging in a way that nobody else was. I think the brand went through a bit of a lull and it’s been invigorated recently – quite hard to find the roots of the story because it’s all in Italian.

So, Pupacat 1 (foreground) and Pupacat 2 each have two lip colours, two eye shades and a silky powder. In practical terms, these aren’t the easiest to use but they’re just all of the fun – especially if you love all things cats AND beauty.

Do you remember Pupa when it was in the UK? It’s well worth checking out their site HERE just to see their quirky collections – they’re very pretty but the site isn’t shoppable (I know.. kind of unbelievable), but you can get the Pupacat kits for £7.35 at Escentual HERE. Weirdly, Pupa also does the kind of body creams (breast enhancers, arm shaping cream etc) that I have never found to work, so don’t bother!

I’d never heard of this brand until recently when I saw one of their novelty palettes on pinterest, the one shaped like a crescent moon? It really looks like play makeup and I kind of love that.
I remember when they were around in the UK about 10 years ago, I loved them. Then they disappeared and I’m so happy to see Pupa again! I got the Pupa Cat 2 in Gold as above, it’s gorgeous!
I remember my first Pupa kit, it was back in 1982 a Christmas gift from Olivia Sr. I love how Pupa combined design, humor, and makeup!
I think these are too cute and yes I am a bit biased since I love cats! Way better on the eyes than the usual flat matte palettes that are proliferating the makeup market these days.
I have so many fond memories of this brand, it’s always been so cute but I’ve never owned any. These are super adorable though!
I’m in Hong Kong at the moment and Pupa are available widely from a variety of different shops (everything from Sasa to Sogo)… But alas it seems the days of the super cute packaging are long gone. I was excited to find them, then swiftly dismayed to realise that the packaging was dull and lifeless, indistinguishable from all the other European brands on offer.
