Oh my! The NARS Christopher Kane Collection is sumptuous stuff… I’ve deliberately not looked for sneak peeks as I wanted to see the collection in the flesh before seeing it on line. It’s more than lived up to expectations. NARS is a bit hit and miss at the moment – but this is definitely a hit. The collection is called Neoneutral and I guess this is embodied best by the gloss selection. They’re following the trend for washes of colour (if you love a Bobbi gloss, then you should take a second look at these) and while they look super bright, on the lip, they’re translucent hints.

From bottom to top: Nebulous, Glow Pink, Mezmer and Nucleus. You could actually take either element of the Neo and the Neutral; it’s a clever collection in that respect because while it looks very bold, there are picks in here that keep you on a completely neutral path.
NARS Christopher Kane CollectionThere’s also a lot of shimmer going on in the NARS Christopher Kane Collection – but it’s interesting shimmer; shots of iridescence and complex colour blends. Maybe the most interesting item is the Violet Atom Illuminating Multiple; it’s a cool toned, moonstruck lilac that has so much iridescence (hard to catch it fully on camera) that it gleams on the skin. It’s the opposite of the Starscape Blush – a vivid, neon-tinted pink where you only need the tiniest amount to get colour on the skin.

In the swatch above is first, Violet Atom Illuminating Multiple, Starscape Blush and Silent Nude Blush.

And the same again, from a different angle and slightly lighter.
NARS Christopher Kane CollectionIn the centre of this picture is Silent Nude Blush – it’s warm toned but gentle. Eyes is where the shimmer really kicks in with the Parallel Universe Duo Eyeshadow and the Outer Limits Single.

There’s a super-gleam on this duo that can be worn as a wash or as ultra-dazzle for lids. Either way, you can see where the galactical names came from!

And if you can only deal with one gleam at a time, there’s always Outer Limits – a pale gold awash with lilac and pink gleam. If I was going to pick any one thing from the collection, Outer Limits is it.

The first two shades in the swatch are Parallel Universe and the final one is Outer Limits where annoyingly the pink and lilac aren’t really showing – I think you need to see it in the flesh.
This collection is launching on 15th April – I’m impressed with how versatile this collection is; it doesn’t seem so when you first look but cool, warm and dark tones can all take something from it.
