Essence Coconut Kiss Lip Peel

[unpaid/ad/sample] New products for spring from Essence are starting to roll in so I’ll kick things off with the Coconut Kiss Lip Peeling Balm (aka a lip scrub) and the coconut oil infused Nail & Cuticle Cream. Essence is one of those budget brands that can be pretty consistently relied upon to deliver – perhaps not at the same level as a luxury brand but certainly at a very decent level so don’t let the fact that it’s visually aimed at teens put you off.

The scrub is a very good case in point – fine sugar granules in an almond and coconut oil blend works really well to slough dry lips that need smoothing before applying lipstick. If you’re a matte lip fan, you’ll know the importance of a smooth base. If you’re expecting a big waft of coconut scent, you won’t get that, but you will get smooth lips! I don’t yet have a price list as both these products have yet to launch but they’re never very expensive – I guess maybe £3! The Nail & Cuticle Cream does smell of coconut and seems to be a very adequate hydrator – glad to see a nozzle rather than the balm pots that you just dip your whole finger in and invariably end up with more under your nail than around the cuticle. Beauty is just so expensive now that opting for budget on the (I was about to say non-essentials because I was thinking of lipstick as an ‘essential’ – there is no hope for me now) more utilitarian aspects that work just as well is a smart way to make a saving. They’re coming to a Wilco near you soon (except mine which of course doesn’t stock Essence at all!) OR Feelunique (thank goodness!).
