[productsamples/affiliate] It’s a bit of a mixed bag for the new bareMinerals glowy offerings. I’m usually all guns blazing for liquid and creme products but actually found myself preferring the powders this time.
Bottom line is that they’re mineral pearls suspended in liquid and are great for anyone who wants a really diffused glowy look – you can go as intense or as light as you like up to a certain point.
Personally, I didn’t find it that easy to use. It needs a lot of shaking up and is very liquid so there is potential for it to go everywhere (as it did for me and even more so when I shook it without putting the lid back on). The palest shade, Whimsy, even with a lot of shaking was never more than a runny oil although you can see that there is some solid forming in Joy on the brush. I think they’re supposed to be like Daniel Sandler’s drops but the packaging nozzle doesn’t seem to fit the product requirements as it needs to be turned on and off.
The first shade is Joy, the second is Free, third is Whimsy (which you can see hasn’t even swatched right) and Fierce which I like the best for wash of cheek glow. They’re £23.
The powder Highlighter though – you know when the godmothers in Cinderella flick their wands and make a twinkling star trail – that’s what these remind me of! Bear in mind that neither formula uses glitter – instead they’re using minerals (and no mineral oil).
When the light hits them, ‘glow’ is absolutely the right word – its a finish that makes your skin come alive but you have to want that sparkle hit radiance in the first place. The Barepro Glows are much more discreet – like you’d take them to Neckar Island, and take the Highlighter powder to Love Island.
Shades are: Joy, Free, Fierce, Zen and Whimsy. They’re £26 each. Actually, there’s 20% off the entire site (as far as I can see) so if you need top ups of anything (thinking about my beloved Complexion Rescue here!) do it now with code LOV20 HERE, non Aff HERE.
