bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Concealer Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’ve been a long time fan of Complexion Rescue – it used to be my daily go-to for lightweight, non-sweaty coverage that feels immediately skin compatible and gives just enough colour to unify the complexion. It was ahead of its time I feel – since it launched in 2015, I have not had a day without it in my make-up bag. Competitors have come thick and fast, but I still use it a couple of times a week without fail – it could easily be my desert island product, were it not for Chanel mascara and Tatcha lip balms.

Complexion Rescue for the face is fluid, soft and blendable – it has an SPF30 although because you’re not applying at the general thickness you would need to to achieve that, nor applying several times a day, it’s good belt and braces practice to add your own. It’s not possible, when it comes to concealers for them to operate at the same lightness of formula – concealers naturally need more pigment and powders to make them less able to show the shadows beneath. I almost never wear a concealer – my face is my face and if it looks tired, it probably is. I don’t like the way the powders inevitably adhere to the very fine creases under my eyes and because they’re usually thicker than base, the way you have to work them in to an area where less is more.

However, if you are a committed concealer wearer, then you will probably find the new concealers from bareMinerals in the Complexion Rescue family perfectly pleasant. They’re ‘brighteners’ and primarily aimed at dark circles – over time they can reduce puffiness (clinical trials) so fulfill more than one role using peptides and caffeine. So, yes, they feel thicker than the CR for the face, the formula needs proper blending to appear seamless but I found it to last well. Choose your shade with care – I don’t think any of these shades are mine (more likely to be Wheat which is my main face CR shade although it can change seasonally) and I could have been more adventurous if I had the one that was spot on. My advice would be if you are already a fan of CR, get the shade nearest to the one you wear on your face.

In the swatch bottom to top: Fair Vanilla, Fair Birch and Fair Opal. This isn’t bareMinerals’ first concealer – the original came with a doe’s foot whereas this is a tube – it’s an upgrade with skin care benefits. You can find a good selection of shades in stock HERE.

      yes – a big bonus.

It would be nice if the concealer had the same names as the foundation. It’s difficult to match on line nearest store is 38 miles. Went to another store but now Bare Minerals has a very limited selection of all products.

      That’s frustrating.
