I really don’t get stressed about my hair colour – I’m a frequent dyer but if I can’t be bothered I don’t care about a few stray greys. But because I’m lazy in that respect, my hair can go through many colour permutations from one week to another! At the moment, it’s really quite light for me – I generally keep it a deep brunette. As I keep putting off dyeing it, the inevitable red tones have appeared and more so with the sun. Because I had the Toning Blue hanging around, and it’s specifically for brunettes, I thought my hair was in exactly the right colour condition to try it out.
Cutting a long story short, it really works! Although the product indicates that it takes just one wash, I’ve done it three times now and the results improve over time. I think it’s made my hair a little bit lighter now the red tones have died down so much. One thing I will suggest is that you don’t over-use it – it feels almost like a detox shampoo in use – once a week would be fine. It’s especially handy if you’re transitioning from dye to no dye or you’re taking a break from dye.
All in all, I’m really impressed with this – although I need to warn you, it’s very, very blue. Like, bluer than a Smurf. It’s £7.99 HERE

Jane I’ve used the Purple version – it is the most pigmented purple shampoo I’ve EVER tried. I have level 9/ 10 hair and this didn’t banish the brassy tones, it literally turned my hair lilac. Which I wasn’t mad at haha but wasn’t what I was expecting either. So just a little warning for your fellow readers! I didn’t leave it on long as I saw how quickly it dyed my hands 🙂

Yes, I think if you have lighter hair it could easily turn a certain shade! There is masses of pigment in the product which I don’t think would show up on brunettes – and my stray greys didn’t go blue!
