[unpaid/affiliate] One of my best purchases ever was a faux leather biker jacket from Sainsbury’s. For some reason my small local branch had a very random and small selection of clothes and there it was – I think from memory it was about £35 and I wear it all the time. I bought a size up because I knew I’d wear jumpers under it so you have to think about a biker’s function – is it for over dresses? Are your sweaters chunky or fine? M&S usually sizes generously so you might want to order two sizes to store and try them on there and then.
I walked past this biker version in my local M&S this morning and it’s really very soft and as you can see, looks great over a floaty dress. The more you wear a biker, the better it starts to look in my view, even the faux leather ones – I had a couple of weeks in mine feeling a bit shiny before it became more worn looking. I think this is good value at £49.50 in sizes 8-24 HERE. I’d wear wool polos, wide or skinny trousers, dresses, skirts – I mean, it’s super versatile. The jacket looks a bit stiff in the still photo but the thing that struck me the most was the softness and fluidity of it.
I’m umm-ing and ahh-ing about whether to grab this sweatshirt from H&M – I mean, it’s very on-brand so to speak so I probably will. Again, I saw this in store this morning – I really do like H&M sweatshirts; they’re nice and roomy in soft material and wash very nicely.
This is a close up to show the detail – it feels like it’s meant to be at £17.99 HERE.
Then there’s this one! Only left in Medium (I would buy large for myself because I like a looser fit) but it has some nice detail in the form of gold embossed buttons on one collar. If you own a pair of black trousers of any sort whatsoever, you won’t go wrong teaming them with these. A coat, some boots and a cross body bag and you are done! It’s also £17.99 HERE.

How do you stop your faux leather from cracking and peeling?
Well, I’m not an expert but faux leather fabrics can greatly differ in quality – if it’s cracking it’s probably a coating on fabric rather than actual ‘faux’ leather. I had a good feel of the M&S one and it seems durable as well as very soft. If you have a faux that’s cracking it’s probably down to quality. My Sainsbury’s biker has never cracked or peeled.
I have the Sainsbury’s jacket too and totally agree ! X
It’s the best!
Oh thanks Jane, I love the sweatshirt. I take it your Sainsbury jacket is no longer available?
I’ve had a quick look and no, it doesn’t seem to be 🙂 Yes it’s fun, I think I’ll have to cave.
I have the M&S faux leather biker jacket in Burgundy. I bought in 6 years ago in the sale for around £33.
It’s been worn loads & still in great condition apart.
And I know it’s a bit late but hope you & your family had a lovely Christmas & a Happy New Year to you Jane x
Thank you Sara! Best wishes to you and your family for 2023 x
