MAC Kabuki Collaboration

So, MAC is back on the ever-rolling launch game – I keep forgetting that it’s only the second week of January. Strangely, I feel a bit overwhelmed by this launch – Make Up Art Cosmetics – a slew of 50 new products in collaboration with iconic make-up artists from across the globe. I’m starting with Kabuki whose name you might not be instantly familiar with but has an extraordinary talent for quirky, show stopping make up looks. He’s on the celebrity roster (Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry to name but a few), but is kind of understated with his profile. If you look on the ‘Fantasy’ section of his site, that probably best sums him up (HERE). So, it’s little wonder that his is the most off-beat and ‘magical’ of the collaborations. I have a few items to show you.

Starting with the Kabuki Magic Crystal Glass (it’s not clear whether this is for eyes or lips or both) in It’s A Great Feeling. This is sumptuous and my favourite thing across all the collections – it’s a blackened red-tangerine with a metallic element. It’s so slick and shiny that I want to bath in it!

Or do exactly that.

The four shade palette is shade-shifty shimmery – all of the sparkle and the prettiest thing. The first two shades are a white-silver and yellow-gold, followed by a peach with a pink shift and a green with a purple shift. The shades names are Kabuki White, Kabuki Gold, Last Dance and Boom Boom Room.

My final sample is Kabuki Grey Retro Matte (I think this is called This Modern Age in the US) – an edgy stone grey flat matte.

MAC Kabuki Collaboration

A couple of days ago, MAC announced a collaboration with Influencers – waving the flag for the UK is lovely Fleur de Force with super wearable lipsticks – blending them up in the MAC Labs in Canada as we speak, and a UK magazine editor. I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with! The Kabuki collection launches this month – I don’t think it’s going everywhere so keep an eye on the MAC site if the thought of diving into black tangerine goo makes you happy!
