Sometimes I think it’s lovely when candles or diffusers become ornamental rather than purely functional. I don’t mind a plain candle when you just want to be paired back and minimalist, but now and again it’s good to change things up.

The Stoneglow Cotton Flower candle above has an external ring of gel with flowers suspended in it – one the core of the candle has gone you can replace with a tea light if you want to keep it going for longer. Cotton Flower is a truly lovely scent – it really does smell like clean washing on the line. Even though the note list is fresh rose petals, lilies, white musk and sandalwood – they’re going to hate me for saying this – the result is just like freshly clean laundry, so I guess it must have a washing powder element to it! Anyway, I wish all my linen was scented like this! The candles don’t throw off big scent, but give a kind of clean-room atmosphere – only just there. I wish it could actually clean the room, too! I think it’s quite well priced at £12.95 HERE at Lovearoma.co.uk.

I’m not much of a reed diffuser fan – they seem to take up too much visual space and there never seems to be quite the right place for a bottle of sticks. I think if you’re going to, it might as well be more than that, so a shell theme seems fitting for summer. This one is Summer’s Oceans – they say an uplifting, refreshing ozonic scent, which is true, but peppermint fresh ocean winds? Never, ever come across those! It’s sort of generically fresh and floral way so I’d place this in the bathroom. It’s £29.99 HERE. I’m honestly not sure I’d buy one for myself, but I can see it being a good gift when you’re stuck.
