I’ve discovered a slight sticking point with the US version of this fabulous little brow pencil – it’s very difficult to sharpen. I’m not the first to find this.. it’s generally driving American (it’s already released there) beauties mad. The problem is that the shell of the pencil is plastic and not wood, therefore it really requires quite a specific sharpener to tackle it.

Now I’ve accumulated an impressive array of eye liner sharpeners over the years, so I thought I had to have something that would do the job. As it turned out, it was a little Chanel one that ended up tackling it, although it took some getting to and some ugly carving before I found it. The Urban Decay one above was a total fail…

The bottom line of it is that you are never going to get a precision point on this unless a special sharpener is made to tackle the job. The nub left of the end after Chaneling it is fine for every day use, bearing in mind that there is a brush on the other end of the pencil so it isn’t reliant on precision strokes. However, I have to point out that the UK version will be a wooden pencil so there’s no need to start sharpener hoarding if you are UK based, so this is definitely something not to put on your shopping list if you are heading stateside.

It launches here in August for £2.99.
