I’m really glad to see Smith & Cult bringing out more products – so far I rather like what I’ve seen and particularly like the new Ice Tears palette, above. It’s a great name for a palette that can product a gorgeous dark blue or grey smokey eye. The formulas are butter soft, super blendy and velvety and look a bit YSL to me. If you like a deep toned smokey, it’s right here. They’re good at names across the board.. there’s a lipstick called ‘Kissing Tiny Flowers’.

If you like a matte lip, or as Smith & Cult have rebranded it, a lip stained flat, I’ve got to say that this is very impressive. I know that brands keep upping their formulas when it comes to non-drying mattes, but this really is non-drying. I wore this happily and comfortably and I hate mattes! The only niggle I have is that it didn’t look terribly even on my lips – if you have ultra smooth lips naturally, you’ll be fine. While the colour did fade, the ‘stain’ element does seem to be there because several hours later I still had a hint of baby pink on my lips.

This new shade is LoveSucker and it’s £24.

You can see by the swatch that it’s a creamy, almost moussy formula and I think it’s better applied with a lip brush for a more even application. Lots of good things about this formula, but an even application isn’t one of them.
The newness hasn’t launched yet but you can find the brand at Net A Porter, Cult Beauty and John Lewis.

The eyeshadow colours look pretty, and it’s a refreshing move away from the warm shadows we’ve been seeing lately. However it’s a real bugbear of mine when brands have a lot of dead space in their palettes- this one, in particular- with its jauntily offset eyeshadows makes me irrationally angry!
Just to add I’ve seen the mannequin moves (£13.90) and noonsuite (£23.79) palettes on sale at beautybay for those who might be interested
Normally I would be totally against the eyeshadows at an angle. I love everything to be lined up usually but for some reason this seems like such a small but creative change. It’s also a pretty excellent way to create a recognisable palette for social media posts showing the palette open…Really quite clever. If I saw that palette in Instagram, I’d definitely do a second take and recognise that palette layout as Smith & Cult from then on. So bad that they don’t think their naming through as well….
Really nice colours in this palette. I love cool toned eye shadows 🙂
