[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Givenchy’s Le 9 palette is a bit of a masterpiece in understated neutrals by making them shimmery, metallic or matte. There’s something always pretty about a shimmering shadow that has a bit more body than a pastel but stays on the nude spectrum.
These are far away from Charlotte Tilbury neutrals and nudes which personally I find a bit aggressive. I’m not usually one for less pigment but this is a reminder of how flattering gentle shades can be. They don’t lack pigment, they’re just not overly pigmented.
I’m also quite enamoured with the little brush that comes with this palette – it’s a double ender that slots together to make a brush you can actually hold and do something with.
From bottom to top : the first trio is metallic, the second shimmer and the third is matte although I would say that there isn’t a big leap between metallic and shimmer. I could use this quite easily in almost every shade for a mono lid just to brighten and awaken my lids. It’s the kind of palette that won’t shake the earth but will be useful every single time you want to do something with your eyes. I remember buying a few of these palettes from Givenchy, always lovely. Glad they are still making them.
I feel like I must have had one before but don’t remember it.
That looks lovely, I really appreciate more softly pigmented shadows that I can build up if I want to. I find a lot of shadows can be too pigmented and I end up with a much more intense look than I wanted as a result. I’m going to take a look at these.
I can see it being a very useful palette.
It does look lovely and wearable! I agree with you about Charlotte Tilbury, whose shadows I find too warm-toned and too samey, and I’m also tired of glitter shades being included everywhere just for the sake of it.
I was wondering, will you be reviewing any of the new YSL eye quads?

I don’t really hear from YSL any more – it’s up to them to send it and I’d love to review. I have so many products as it is that I don’t generally chase brands. If I get enough requests, I will buy but so far, it’s only you who has missed them :-))))
