[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] For ultimate lightweight feel, the Sensai Contouring Lipsticks are excellent. After a second or two, you’ll question whether you ever put any lipstick on at all because you can so barely feel it.

I’m still getting used to refill concept and I know it should feel easier than it does. It makes perfect sense to have one slick, robust holder and swap in your colours but they feel very small and thin without their coat on.

The other strange thing is that the shades don’t look as different in the bullets as they do when swatched on the arm. I thought they looked very samey when I was sure that I had chosen three very distinct colours from the chart. However, they do very much spring to life once on the lips.

If you ask anyone who regularly wears lipstick whether the bullet shape really matters, unless something has gone wildly wrong, I think the answer is no. I’ve never not bought a lipstick because of the shape of it but I must say these slender sticks really do go over the lips very, very nicely indeed.

As you can see (and, whew) the colours look very different when on the skin. I have (bottom) Pale Pink which is a very flattering, brightening pink, Soft Red which is definitely one for the understated red wearers and Reddish Nude which just a little on the ‘brick’ side for me but nonetheless, a pleasant neutral. The finish is soft matte but so light that you only need a little balm underneath to give the finish some sheen although that will shorten the wear time. They’re £26 each HERE
