Primark PS Satin Matte Lipsticks
There are new drops from the Primark PS Insta Girl collection all the time – some of the newest products are the Satin Matte Lipsticks, the lip pencils and the Intense Liquid Lipsticks, the latter I think literally made for Instagram! There’s one in a dove grey shade (Insta Glam) and one in a dusky rose shade, called It Girl. I’ve seen a fair bit of Primark make up now and the quality is variable. There’s nothing much wrong with the Satin-Matte Lipsticks – they do the job, albeit it with a vanilla scent that’s not great, but if you chop and change your lipsticks all the time, it’s got to make sense to spend a couple of quid or so than spending £20 multiple times to get a colour you’ll love for five minutes.
Shades from bottom to top are It Girl, Obsession and Like That. To my mind, they’re more matte than satin but the last was okay – a bit on the drying side though.
I can’t say I have any complaints about the Liquid Lipsticks either – they’re really feathery light on the lips and give a decent amount of coverage. Again though, they’re more matte than satin and the formula did feel like it was shrinking my lips as it dried and had a slightly sticky feel. This isn’t particularly a problem but only because the price point is so low and you know, we have to make compromises somewhere! The lip liner pencils were an out and out disaster – the grey shade was all shrunken in the body of the pencil and wouldn’t wind up, while the entire colour fell out of the pink shade – basically rendering them both unusable. It’s £1.50 badly spent! The problem is that they’re hygiene sealed so you’d never be able to see inside before you buy.
I feel the multi-make up, have as much as is humanly possible trend is kind of dying out – it’s definitely predicted that we’ll become more discerning and buy more carefully – it’s been all of the fun, let’s be honest, taking make up ownership to another level, but it’s really not going to last very much longer, I’m sure of it.
