[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad]  Despite all the ‘clean’ and ‘free from’ make up that we can find now, there aren’t many with Soil Association certification. In fact, Odylique’s lipsticks are the first and only lipsticks (for now) that are certified to Soil Association and Fair Trade standards. I met a lovely make-up artist last week who specialises in natural, organic and cruelty free artistry and she started many years ago when there was not a wealth of things to choose from – in fact, it was a struggle. The Odylique story begins over 30 years ago but by 2014 the brand had been producing certified organic skin care to market for a decade, far ahead of most beauty brands. It’s a family owned company and all products are produced in Suffolk.

Odylique Lipstick

I have never been able to wear lipsticks for a prolonged period – I can wear once or twice before my lips need a break, otherwise they go dry and sore. It’s one of the reasons I mainly stick to gloss (no pun intended!). However, more recently, I’ve noticed that this is happening to me less and less and I’m convinced an ingredient (I don’t know which one) has been either phased out or changed across the board. It’s impossible to tell which it is because there are so many components to a lipstick (including fragrance) but I can’t think it’s my lips that have changed. I’m flagging this because Odylique formulates for sensitive skin and gives a full ingredient list, both in chemistry terms and ‘plain English’ so you can see exactly what’s there.

The shades I have here are Raspberry Coulis (bottom) and Apricot Sorbet. What I particularly like about them is that they’re not a big colour lay down – they’re low-medium intensity so you get a definite but gentle shade that feels creamy and protective on the lips. They have some sheen rather than shine and I found the last to be very good. I should flag up that they contain beeswax so aren’t vegan and I’ve added the full ingredient (plain English) below. They’re £18 each HERE. They’re 86% organic and 100% natural.
