Maybelline Burgundy Bar

Maybelline Burgundy Bar

I forget, every single time, how good Maybelline is at these shadow palettes that pop up now and again. The twelve shades in the Burgundy Bar are all generously pigmented, buttery soft and … not that dissimilar to Urban Decay’s Naked Cherry.

The finishes are different but if it’s the Cherry look you want, you’ll more or less get it in the Burgundy Bar. Bear in mind that both Maybelline and Urban Decay are L’Oreal owned and filtering trends from premium down to high street is something L’Oreal has always done. Actually, just as a note, you should always, if you’re looking at L’Oreal high end (Lancome, Armani, etc), check the high street versions (Maybelline, L’Oreal Paris etc) for similar things that may well not be that different when you get down to the nuts and bolts.

These are all single swipe swatches so you can see that there’s a good pigment level. Better yet, Feel Unique have this for £8.35 HERE, making them better value than Superdrug where the palette is £11.99.

I was just thinking this morning when putting on eyeshadow that I’m so sick of palettes. But it’s all that’s in the shops. There’s hardly any duos or quads these days. I’ve started going to Mac for individual colours. I mean who are these people that use all the colours on a palette anyway? For everyday life I generally stick to a couple of nudes and maybe a colour in the crease at the weekends when I have more time.

I’m guessing it’s a money making scam for the brands though. Get people to spend their bucks on 12 colours when they’ll only use 2 or 3 if them. Then when those colours run out they’ll buy another palette innllstead if just the colours they truly use.

I thought I was well and truly over nudes but then my interest returned and I’m using them a lot now. 🙂
