Given that Kat Von D is all about the deep and the dark, a pastel palette seems a contraindication for the brand. The Pastel Goth palette is 8 matte low tone rainbow shades that taps into the unicorn trend. If you took away the epic packaging, it wouldn’t be nearly as alluring. However, ‘pastel goth’ is a thing – a sub-culture trend if you like, defined by a feminine take on gothic and hot in Asia, although not exclusively an Asian trend. So, spot on for identifying, and no doubt massively inflating, a niche trend.
I love a pastel shade but they’re hard to wear; pastel goths have got it down to a fine art (see HERE) for detail if you want to try and replicate.

In terms of use – really, these are very nice mattes – blendable, true to their shade (what you see in the pan is what you get on your skin) and feel like quality. In honesty, I was expecting them to be a bit dusty, and they don’t seem to be that – there’s a little bit of drop, but what palette doesn’t have that?

If pastels are for you, it’s easily one of the better of its type. This launched in the US a while back, but UK Kat fans have been waiting and waiting (can we sort this out please!). I hear that it’s going to launch earlier than planned because of demand. The current launch date I have is 1st April – UK price tbc.
