A long way back in the day, I was on a press trip abroad for the sole purpose of interviewing the famous ‘face’ of a well known brand for a newspaper. For no good reason that we ever discovered, the ‘face’ had one massive hissy fit and refused point blank to be interviewed by anyone. Rather excitingly, she had her diva moment in the corridor so we missed nothing and let me tell you, it was epic. However, tucked quietly in one corner of the penthouse suite we were all gathered in was a relatively unknown model – Natalia Vodianova – who was right at the beginning of her career. So, we interviewed her instead. What a charming, helpful and delightful person she was. Maybe it’s karma that Natalia has gone on to become a world-renowned name and the diva? No idea where she is now. I’ve never forgotten how sweet she was so this is one celebrity collaboration that I can get on board with, particularly when you know that some of the profits from the collection go to Natalia’s charity, the Naked Heart Foundation, HERE.
It’s not a big collection either, and all the items are limited edition.
There’s a beautiful attention to detail (the Rouge G Lipstick in Rouge Sapphire (£35) above has a deep blue jewel on the outer casing which ties it into the blue theme of the collection).
The main piece of the collection – and certainly the show stopper – is the Souffle d’Or de Shalimar, a perfumed hair and body shimmer with a sparkly puffer. It’s £59 and if Shalimar is your favourite fragrance and you love a bit of seasonal twinkle, it’s a match made in heaven. I saw this collection back in the summer and only gave a cursory glance to the Eye Shadow Palette (£31) at the time. Now it’s in my hands, I can see that it’s so pretty – gold and sapphire with an irridescent accent to the sapphire shade.
L’Or Felt Eyeliner (£22) is one of the most beautiful shimmer eye liners I’ve seen. It’s quite a yellow gold and layered over black eyeliner gives a light-catchy sparkle.
The Terracotta Bronzer in Terra India has been given a shimmering re-boot and dressed in a blue outer casing to exactly match the Souffle D’or de Shalimar shade. It is very shimmery so can be used as a highlighting powder as well. The only other thing to mention is the Meteorites Perles de Legende which I’m not really a fan of especially because I hate powder on my face unless you crush down the pearls and use them individually to highlight – the balls are pink, blue and gold.
In the swatch above, Rouge G Lipstick, Gold Shadow, Sapphire Shadow and L’Or Felt Eyeliner. My top picks are the liner and the lipstick – especially the lipstick!
