The new Essence Happy Girls Are Pretty collection is so sweet! It’s obviously for quite a young target audience but I’m always happy when I see a bit of extra effort that makes their products really stand out. I’ve pulled out the nicest bits from the collection, starting with the blush above, which is a pastel pink shade with a deeper, blue-toned pink in the centre. It’s a pale skin dream! £2.99

I’m no expert in contouring – just don’t use this trend – but it’s a great little compact if you know what you’re doing. Pigment is fairly light on this – if you’re tanned still or have very dark skin, it’s probably not right for you, but in terms of blendability, nothing wrong here. It’s £3.29.

Here’s my favourite thing from the Essence Happy Girls Are Pretty collection – the sweet little palette in pastel brown tones. Do not ask me why there’s a ball of wool on it and the word, “knit” – I can’t even think where that comes from, but because it’s so random, it seems adorable!

The shades are pretty; if you’re very fair, there’s a perfect smoky eye in here, a tiny bit of shimmer, and some good blendability. I won’t say that these aren’t a little powdery because they are but I found longevity pretty good. Essence is a perfect example of a budget brand punching above its weight and doing a great job of making very decent products financially accessible. It’s £3.49 (I know!).
