[productsamples/affiliate] I had a not-so-long-ago conversation with a brand about how mostly I didn’t like matte textures for lips – they had the view that it was a trend here to stay but what I’m seeing coming through says differently. The new Bobbi Brown Luxe Intense Lipsticks are a good example of how the tide is turning in favour of a moisturising sheen that feels soft and comfortable.

I also think I prefer the flattened bullet tips to a side pointed one because it gives more of an impression of balm than of lipstick.

I think there will be a colour for everyone in the 13 strong line up – I love Night Spell (the blackberry shade on the top row) in theory but my natural home is more likely to be the orangey reds.

The formula, like many lipsticks now, contains Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid. Now that hyaluronic is fairly standard, I don’t think I’d buy a lipstick without it. It’s the thing that not only boosts moisture but locks it in as well and the feel and performance of lipsticks that do contain it are always better and it’s a particularly beneficial winter lip ingredient.
