Revlon Glass Shine Lipstick Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Do you remember late last year, Revlon’s Glass Shine shade in Rum & Raisin went viral and there was a world shortage within days? I stalked my local Boots relentlessly but no luck. Revlon lipstick names are confusing – when I look back at my own records, I see I featured Super Lustrous Glass Shine in 2021, again in 2023 and now again in 2024 because I think it’s important to flag up great lipsticks that aren’t £30 each (they’re £8.90). These are new shades to the Glass Shine line up and the best thing is that the newness includes Cherries In The Snow, the famous shade that was first introduced in 1953 and worn by Dorian Leigh, the supermodel of the time. However…

… the original shade of Cherries In The Snow seems to have changed – looking at archive pictures, the shade looks more orange toned than the raspberry tone of the pink now. However, there have been printing advances and photography advances over that time – as well as new media – so I guess we will never truly know unless anyone has an old one for comparison. I’ve looked on auction sites just on the off-chance but nothing has shown up. The shade Glazed Mauve is also new and will make anyone who loves a cool toned lipstick very happy indeed.

So here we are – Cherries In The Snow! The texture of Glass Shine is buttery and balmy – really very comfortable indeed. It’s the perfect texture lipstick for me and the perfect pigment level too – I like a lot of shine and not a lot of pigment and Glass Shine has a degree of translucency that I love.

I can’t believe that I’ve managed to hold the shade numbers upside down not once, but twice. Anyhow, this is the infamous Rum & Raisin and I can see how it grabbed people. It’s just a deliciously nutty, warm shade that will look especially good in summer I think when the light is right and tones are warmer. It’s £8.90 HERE.

And this is Glazed Mauve. I will very happily wear this as my tone is fairly neutral at the moment. So, the bad news is that I can’t find either Glazed Mauve or Cherries in the Snow on-line (I’ve linked to the Revlon Amazon store for Rum & Raisin) so I think it’s a question of snapping them up next time you are in Boots or Sainsbury’s. There are further new shades coming in May.
