Becca Skin Love Glow Shield Prime & Set Mist

[productsample/affiliate] I very rarely use a setting spray so I have to admit that I’m no strong judge of a decent one – if I do use one, it’s usually MAC Prep & Prime but with the exception of Urban Decay All Nighter I can’t say I feel they bring much to the party.

Becca

From the ingredient list (at the end of the post), it seems to contain more nourishing ingredients than most – honey, green tea, licorice, blueberry and algae, all of which have indications of doing something useful in skin care and I love the smell of it. Strangely, to my nose, it’s got a water-melon scent and yet, that’s nowhere in the line-up. Maybe it’s just more generically fruity and I’m just wishfully thinking of juicy water-melon. The mist is a very fine spray – no random squirts to make you jump.

The Brighten & Blur Primer has the same ‘water-melon’ scent – it’s delicious actually. I can’t say I found this particularly blurry but it provided a lovely cushiony base for my foundation (Guerlain). It has a similar ingredient list to the mist (although far longer) in terms of fruity things laced with dimethicone and hyaluronic. Personally, I am not anti-silicone at all, but I do know that for some, it’s a no-no as an ingredient. It’s ticking the boxes in terms of light moisture, pollution protection and providing a decent base although you’d have to use it to your grave to see any brightening from it. It feels expensive at £28 for 30ml but it’s HERE if you fancy it. The Mist is £22. I did have a quick look at other mists and primer ingredient lists – in my view, Becca has got a superior ingredient line-up and more comprehensive… there is a very, very basic mist on the same website with a fraction of the ingredients, relying on cucumber extract as the bulk of the ‘care’ costing £20 so perhaps it’s not as pricy as it seems.
