Jo Malone London An Ode To The Rose Collection

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] This feels like such a good start to the week – just as the crabapple and cherry blossoms are appearing in my garden, a spritz of fresh rose with just a little twist of lychee (and basil but I can’t quite pick that out) is exactly the fragrance to welcome these signs of spring.

Jo Malone London An Ode To The Rose Collection

Last summer, I had a friend who wasn’t very well – his treatment meant that he only really had a taste for sweet things so I experimented with different cakes and tried to make him one every week. A big favourite was Rose & Lemon Drizzle Cake and the scent of Rose Blush reminds me so much of that cake. I added rosewater to the icing and if feeling fancy, some rose jam or jelly through the centre, topping it off with crystalized rose petals. It’s a gorgeous looking cake and the taste is delicious.

Rose Blush is the scent of happy times – perhaps it’s the softness of it, the twist of lemon and the ease of wear. However, it’s not just Rose Blush that’s part of the limited edition Ode To The Rose collection (which comes with a comes with a complementary pouch – they all do). The original Red Roses and Rose Water & Vanilla complete the trio. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled Rose Water & Vanilla which sounds even more of a scent journey towards the cake! If there’s a special birthday or occasion coming up, Rose crosses through all the generations and it’s absolutely perfect for now. Oh, the Rose Blush Home Candle is also part of the pouch offering. So, price wise, all the 50ml colognes are £82 and the candle is £58 – they’re HERE.

Rose Drizzle

If that’s out of budget, this is my Rose & Lemon Drizzle – literally use any lemon drizzle recipe and add a very good slug of rosewater to make the water icing. If you can find rose jam, just run that through the middle and to create the rose petals, literally coat them lightly in whipped egg white and drag them through caster sugar (I ended up using my best beauty tweezers to do this). Leave them to harden and place on top with some toasted pistachios. Voila!

Rose Water and Vanilla was my favourite of the Intense colognes from Jo Malone before it was discontinued so I am delighted it is back (albeit for a limited run)! It is very sweet – like the most gorgeous, sticky Turkish Delight!
