Givenchy Eclats Precieux

Givenchy Eclats Precieux

I’ve done a quick Google translate on Eclats Precieux – it gives me ‘precious flakes’ and even ‘splinters’ which I’m sure isn’t quite right! Maybe particles or something similar, because this new Givenchy fragrance is designed to represent sequins and light refraction. The packaging is ridiculously pretty – I immediately wondered if they do a bag in the same design – and the oval bottle design highly tactile. It fits just right in my hand and feels like a smooth, cool pebble.

The fragrance itself is gourmande – but forget smelling like freshly baked biscuits; this is more subtle and more elegant than that. There’s some mandarin and some violet – and it’s supposed to smell like a rhubarb cupcake – the noses at Givenchy want to thank the fragrance gods that this is not what it smells like to mere mortals but a fruity gourmande it is. But, lightly so, even with the addition of tonka bean. If you like everyday warm, sweet and fruity/floral, this fits that brief very nicely – it’s more of an everyday thing I think, that sits well on the skin and won’t cause any drama. Statement, it isn’t, an easy, unobtrusive wear, certainly.

Givenchy Eclats Precieux launches in March.

    ‘Sparkles’?

Judging from the entries I’m getting from Word Reference, I’d say ‘precious radiance” sounds the best to my ear.
