[productsample/affiliate] A package from Diptyque is always lovely to receive, but this one, a collaboration with design company, House of Pierre Frey is extra good, especially with Mother’s Day around the corner and ideas needed for that.
Aside from two new fragrances, Lily and Narguile (apparently, Spanish for a Hookah pipe although I’m happy to be corrected on that… and also really want to smell it as it promises honey, spice and tobacco leaves. It’s a very long time since I had a Hookah… I mean 20 years or something like that), all the candles in these special dual sets will be familiar. The particular set that I have here is The Flower Festival comprising a full size Rose candle and a full size Jasmine candle.
I’ve familiarised myself with Jasmine – just a delight if you like that particular scent. I had it on the burn in my kitchen for about half an hour and the whole ground floor of my house had the aroma wafting through. I think it’s a slightly smoky jasmine scent – not as potent and sweet as some that I’ve smelled but Jasmine can easily overpower so it feels about the right level to me. The other sets are An Eastern Garden At Dusk comprising Lily and Narguile, Greece In The Shade Of Fig Trees comprising Cypress and Fig Tree, The Artist’s Drawing Pouch featuring Leather and Violet and Memories of Asia with Sandalwood and Tuberose.
The House of Pierre Frey has been in existence since 1935, creating wallpapers and furnishings using traditional French methods. It’s interesting that when Diptyque first began, they paired their candles to a particular textile to give visual representation to aromas, so this collaboration is a return to those roots. Certainly, the box I have made me smile as soon as I opened it – it just looks so vibrant and cheerful; it’s almost a shame you have to take the candles out! It’s a sturdy little box though and I will make sure it’s re-purposed to house something else. Anyway, none of these French fancies come cheap – a duo box is £94 HERE. There is a Rose Geranium and Mimosa duo that is specific to SpaceNK and that’s HERE.
