The Body Shop New Year Count Down Calendar

The Body Shop New Year Count Down Calendar

Well, hello there new idea! This is The Body Shop’s innovation – a bridge, if you like, between Christmas and New Year when those beauty advent calendars are opened and emptied. I think I like this for being something chirpy for that ‘Christmas is over, now what?’ kind of feeling. It’s going to be very interesting to see how well this does and whether other brands follow suit next year…

I’ve opened the New Year’s Day one (I feel entitled to as it’s my birthday then) just to have a look at what’s inside, but I won’t give the whole contents away other than to say it’s a mix of make up and skin care.

As you can see, it’s a full size Himalayan Charcoal Mask. The Body Shop masks are excellent and this has a value of £16. Like most other brands, The Body Shop has already released their advent calendars (one is £99!!) but this one won’t be on sale for a while yet. It’s £50 which seems quite a lot for 8 products, but as far as I can work out, it’s a value buy (there are a couple of sparkly things that aren’t listed on the Body Shop website yet so I can’t add them up).

The packaging is high quality – although how hard is it to wrap a star shape? Answer: very!

Perfect for somebody who might have their birthday on, oh I dunno, 28th of December..? (Cough.)

  2. Wow! Need this calendar for sure, just because it has the charcoal mask that I want to try! xx

I LOVE this idea! Really hoping it catches on – there’s a lot of hype leading up to Christmas but the gap between that and new year I feel is a bit of a slog so this would be a great way to brighten things up!

As a Christian I always felt uneasy about the beauty industry’s appropriation of the advent calendar. For me there should be only a picture of an angel or manger behind an advent calendar door. So it’s nice to see an alternative offering that doesn’t involve Christmas.
