You have absolutely no idea how much – ALL of my beauty life – I have wanted loose beauty caviar like this! I’ve had bottles and bottles, all impenetrably sealed, of hair, make up and skin care caviar suspended in liquid and I have always wanted to hold one of these little spheres in my hand. Twenty years later, I get my moment!
*Squeak*! I’m looking at the famously good BASF trend prediction boxes for 2019/2020 and inside one of them was a little pot of caviar called DuoPearl Masquerade Pearl Primer in Iris Orchid, meaning that it’s got pinky blue iridescent reflects (hard to capture on camera).
The jar comes with these little tea bag kind of things.

You pop them in the ‘teabag’, pull the string, and then it’s ready to dab onto your arm or hand so you can see how the sheen performs. The act of patting breaks the caviar balls and the bag just oozes iridescent liquid. Yum!
I mean, how cute!
Result! So, the caviars feel quite hard actually to the touch – it takes a little bit of pressure to break them. They feel like tiny peas and when you squash them it’s exactly the same satisfying moment as when you pop bubble wrap, except these little bubbles release a shiny, blue-pink liquid. Honestly, it’s the best morning I’ve had in months.
I doubt very much that this will ever turn into a consumer product – it’s for formulators to test and to see how the colour works, but gosh, I’d buy a little pot of them just to burst, although I have to tell you that they’re a bit lively – one of them sent the contents flying onto my toaster.

Jane, you can get these from The Face Shop. It’s been available for over two years now, and come in two different formulations. The texture is pretty similar to what you described. The Face Shop is marketing it as a skincare product but the texture / finish is definitely more of a makeup product. It is quite shimmery!
