I’ve been so keen to do the YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil Swatches because they look so fresh and exciting. So, finally I have my hands on some – instant love, is all I can say.
For a start, the wand! It fits your lip so beautifully that it’s a surprise – this is a feat of beauty engineering that has perfected the lip-hug wand and makes other wands look rather inconsiderate in comparison. Honestly, it’s genius.
YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil is a gloss, balm and tint – and the tint is not shy. There will be an inevitable comparison between the Clarins Lip Oil and these and the difference is that YSL has far more colour in a slightly thinner texture than the Clarins Oil. They’re similar in feel on the lip – the Clarins version feels a little more solid in texture but I genuinely like both. Because YSL has more of a colour element, I’m edging to that if I have to choose.
Although the tints look light, they really do show up on the lip. In fact, I think they warm on the lip and become brighter. If you’re interested in the tech behind this (oils are notoriously difficult to work with in make-up) YSL created a binding ingredient to attract, rather than repel, oil and liquids, which is why they’re able to work together so well.
There are eight shades on their way – they have a slightly fruity scent but not overpowering (mango apparently) and the shades above I’m afraid I’ve completely cocked up on! They were labelled on the box but not on the tube, and now they’re out of the box, I can only guess that we have Peach Me Love, I Rose You and Oh My Gold. But, it’s my bad for not keeping tabs on this!
The YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oils are on the pricy side at £23.50, but they get a huge recommend from me for being long lasting (as far as any oil can be), a proper veil of colour and very, very comfortable in the wear. Tick, tick and tick!

Hi Jane 🙂 just wondering, do you know the exact date for when these release? I’m jonesing really bad :/
Actually no, I don’t have exact date info.. so sorry x
Hi Jane,
Im really late to the game on these, have spotted them recently though. Do they stay on? I.e will the tint keep the colour there or do they need to be reapplied regularly? I like the idea but not if the colour doesnt stay x
They don’t stay on any more than you would expect a regular gloss to – in fact, they need top ups more than most. I love the texture and I really don’t mind reappliation but if you don’t like to regularly reapply, then I would steer clear!
