I’ve finally got my hands on some of the Tory Burch beauty range – the exterior packaging is gorgeous – bright orange with raised detail and the beautiful gold logo. You really feel like you have something quality in your hands.
And, here’s the lipstick. In another lifetime, where budgetary requirements weren’t in place, this lipstick would have been so much better with a bit of weight and some orange lacquer type material. As it is, it’s quite light in the hand and much as I do like it, it’s a little plastic-y. That doesn’t really detract, I don’t think, from the presentation, because you bring this out of your handbag, and people are going to look! It’s so different and quite exciting visually. Inside, the lipstick is shade Pas de Tout (the only shade currently) and it’s so light and natural looking – very pretty for anyone who loves the glide and sheen of a lipstick but doesn’t want a huge smack of colour. And, if there is any one thing that marks this out as Lauder owned, it’s the smell.. it’s a Lauder lipstick without a doubt and I know that scent in my bones! So, you know the make-up quality is there.
I also really do like the Lip & Cheek Tint in Cat’s Meow, although my bugbear with lip and cheek tints is that they do neither terribly well. However, this one comes out as a light, peachy pink and I’d wear it more as a cheek shade than a lip shade, I think. It gives a beautiful sheen to the skin so I’m thinking summer cheeks that need a bit of a sheen over a light tan.. very pretty!
With the swatches together you can see that the Lip & Cheek Tint is more lively in colour.
I don’t have the blush/bronzer to swatch yet (it’s on its way) but other than the bath and body, there’s also a rather beautiful necklace with a solid fragrance inside. Funnily enough, when I reviewed the Tory Burch fragrance, someone commented that it was quite a masculine fragrance, but on me it’s not at all.. very feminine, in fact. I have now smelled it on someone else and I can see that it does have masculine or unisex elements, just not on me!
