I am honestly thanking my stars that I’m back in touch with Suqqu because the Suqqu Christmas Kimono Duo is one of the prettiest things I’ve seen. It’s obvious that every brand will bring gold to the party season – honestly, I think there should be such a thing as a ‘pre-Christmas’ present so you don’t have to wait til all the parties are over and done with to wear your beauty gifts! This is launching on 3rd December and as the name might suggest to you, is inspired by two kinds of Japanese craftsmanship – Kindami, (a gilding technique) and Benisome (a dyeing technique).

The gold palette has a chequerboard theme (inspired by Ichimatsue Moyo, a traditional design) made famous by Japanese actor Ichimatsu Sanogawa. It’s a mix of champagne and gold and is the lightest wash of shimmer; very understated and very glam. I’m not, as you know, a shimmer fan, but done at this low intensity, with an option boost on one side, what’s not to like? The Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist is a pink-red, very soft in texture and I find it ultra moisturising.

I love that the Suqqu Christmas Kimono Duo has a proper inspiration – it looks and feels as though there is meaning to this over and above some Christmas sparkle. It’s so beautifully thought through, gorgeously executed and instantly covetable.

In the swatch, it’s the chequerboard first, followed by the more golden, intense shade and then the lipstick. So pretty!

You’ll be able to buy the Suqqu Christmas Kimono Duo for £70 (I know, yikes) from 3rd December at Selfridges, Fenwick Bond Street or Harrods.

Hi lovely Jane – why is this article in italics? Love the blog – I read it every day, mostly first thing in the morning or with a cuppa after work. Much love from Sydney x

thanks! have to admit that I have NO idea why it’s in italics…. it isn’t at the back end.. My son is living in Sydney at the moment!

Haha all good – I was wondering if there was some subliminal message…it’s the perfect time to be in Sydney. The weather is warm but not broiling and all the jacaranda and jasmine is out. Will you be visiting him? BBB meet up and Aussie beauty special would be amazing!! Ever tried emu oil?;)
