My lovely friend Lauren got into a pickle with a home hair dye kit, transforming her gorgeous blond locks into a shade more associated with carrot soup. You try finding someone who can do an emergency hair recovery in the middle of London during the run up to Christmas…but Eleven Hair stepped into the breach to return her hair to it’s former glory and stop the tears. I’m always impressed when people go out of their way to help, so a big thank you to Jason.
Here’s Lauren’s story:
“Some people are known for their style, some for their looks…for me, it’s my blonde hair. So when I tried a home dye to boost my blonde it’s safe to say I was far from ecstatic when I looked more Ginger Spice than Marilyn Monroe.I should have known better than to think a home dye could’ve lightened up my roots and given it a good condition… So, frazzled hair and ginger roots in tow I trotted off to Eleven Hair, tucked away just off Oxford Street, for them to work their magic.
Jason Welch, Head of Colour, got to work correcting the colour. First he explained how my hair was really stressed after a load of bleaching so rather than my usual ‘pack in as many foils as possible’ he advised to put in a foam colour to lift the root’s colour, but only enough to reveal the raw undertones of my hair. To banish the red, he gave me ‘reverse lights’, to give me a more natural look and re-balance the colour – taking the glare off my accidental colour and covering it up, genius! Jason finished off my hair with an all over gloss to give me a much needed condition.
After a lovely shampoo (during which I struggled not to fall asleep!) I had a Redken Chemistry Treatment to retstore the nutrients in my hair and give it that ‘just walked out of a salon’ shine. I was absolutely thrilled by the results, my hair was better than it was before the dye-disaster and it meant I was able to bin the hats and headscarves that I’d been donning! My faith in hair colouring has been restored…although I will definitely be leaving it to be professionals next time!”
