[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I am asked questions about tubing mascara more than any other category of make-up except perhaps foundation – whether it’s simply asking which I think is the best one, understanding how a tubing mascara differs from any other mascara or a tubing mascara for sensitive eyes…and the strange thing is, there really aren’t all that many of them out there compared to a regular mascara.
To explain – a tubing mascara uses polymers to enclose your lashes individually (that’s all down to the brush, so the right brush is important) rather than just merely coat them. It doesn’t clump or smudge over time and if your eyes are hooded, a tubing mascara won’t leave you with a mid-lid black line of dots. You must give it a moment to dry without blinking, if possible, and then you’ll be trouble free.
While tubing mascaras are relatively rare, what’s even rarer is an affordable tubing mascara so when I read about Soap & Glory’s Thick & Fast Tubing Mascara for a rather reasonable £11.99 (it’s currently on offer for £7 so hurry!) I had to try it. I picked it up in my local Boots (where it wasn’t on offer so the £7 may be an on-line offer) and noticed that there is a brown version and a black version both boosted with sunflower wax and shea butter. It just gets better!
The brush is perfect – it doesn’t have traditional ‘bristles’ as such but rather rubbery spikes that deposit the mascara evenly over the lashes in a manageable way. I wore it all of Sunday and from start to finish there was not one smudge, flake or sign of movement. My lashes looked nicely spiky and dark and they stayed that way until I removed the mascara.
Speaking of removal, Soap & Glory suggest a cotton pad soaked in warm water but I don’t like cotton pads near lashes so I’d prefer to use a clean wash cloth. The water does need to be warm as this is what loosens the formula away from the lashes. Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Tubing Mascara is a big recommend if you’re having issues with regular mascara, and come to think of it, even if you’re not. It’s HERE.
