It seems that everywhere I look I see women draping stylish scarves around their heads, neck and shoulders. What you may not realise is that many of them are ‘Scandi Scarves’, scarves made by Scandinavian designers who have never been so hot as they are now. Names such as the Danish brand Beckondersgaard, Design House Stockholm from Sweden and Danish Day Birger Et Mikkelsen excel in producing scarves in luxe materials that have the lead in contemporary style.
We’re hyper alert to all things Scandinavian thanks to an influx of Scandi dramas on TV; suddenly a Nordic knit has never looked so appealing (if you haven’t seen The Killing, begin today!). Nordic Noir is moody, deep and pared back – a quiet sort of drama with a razor edge. You can equally apply the same terms to Scandinavian style so if you’ve yet to buy your autumn scarf, we’re going to tempt you with our new season favourites.
