Maybelline Brow Satin

I have to admit to being rather disappointed by Maybelline Brow Satin. It’s a new product for brows with a pencil at one end and a powder at the other.

I found the pencil end really quite hard and scratchy – I know they need to be firm so if you’re doing any precise infill strokes they retain definition but I literally had grooves in my arm when trying to swatch and every single one broke. The trick with these is not to have too much of the stick coming out of the top. Even though Maybelline Brow Satin has got a thoughtful colour selection and takes into consideration red tints in brows with Mahogany Red, the powder is really so pale I’m not sure how effective it’s going to be. The sponge applicator needed several goes just to bring up the colours you can see below.

They  look like pretty weedy swatches. I have a feeling that Maybelline Brow Satin is for real brow experts only – I do very little with my brows other than run a pencil over them then brush with a mascara brush so I’m not so much of an expert in this area. So, the shades are Dark Blonde,  Meadow Brown, Dark Brown and Mahogany Red.

This one’s a complete miss for me – which is really a shame because Maybelline are usually on point. They’re out now if you want to risk it for £5.99 each.

  2. I tested these in store last week. I’m totally with you…very disappointing. I had to press so hard on my hand, I left a dent. Goodness knows what my forehead would have looked like! Such a shame. As you say, Maybelline hit the button most of the time.

Thanks for this review, I was debating as to whether to buy one. I am a fan of their master brow pencil but I think I will leave this one for now.

How odd! I found the complete opposite, I use the lightest stroke and it’s sheer perfection! I wonder if I just have a different batch…

It’s interesting how people are having very different experiences with this product.

It could be as simple as the fact that my flat is pretty warm all the time to the pencil is super emolient. Honestly, it is SO soft I have to be careful not to end up with too much. How very odd, it’s one of my holy grail products right now, I bought the whole batch of shades for ombre brow joys!

Actually, I did wonder if it might be affected by the fact it did an overnight at the post office which surely can’t be all that cosy. But then, I also found the powder aspect very weak so all in all, it’s still not for me, but temperature is a very good point.
