For the consumer, salon only products sometimes get a little lost. We’re so used to popping products in our trolley while we’re shopping that it can be hard to find a reason to step into a salon to shop for your hair products. But, the new Matrix Total Results line-up is used in salons as a professional hair range with proper hair type target and you’d expect them to be far more expensive because of that, but they’re not, and start at around £6.99. All hair types are covered with Moisture Me Rich, So Silver, High Amplify, Curl Please, Hello Blondie, Mega Sleek, So Long Damage and Color Obsessed.

HELLO BLONDIE CONDITIONER 300ml LR SILO

I spoke to Jamie Stevens, the ambassador for Hello Blondie to ask for his top styling tips that you can use at home.

The Hair Selfie Secret

Keep a toothbrush in your office drawer or handbag with a travel size hair spray. Spritz a little of the spray onto the toothbrush and brush over your hair to tame any fly-aways for the perfect digital do.

The Speed Wave

Session stylists are the masters of time saving! Using a heated hair wand through the mid sections only, not uniformly but sporadically, you’ll get perfect effortless volume and movement without looking like you’ve just stepped out of the salon. It’s one of the key secrets to that ‘I woke up like this’ tousled hair look.

The Blonde Brightener

Blonde hair goes dull very quickly, so using a shampoo such as Hello Blondie, specially formulated with chamomile to cleanse blonde strands keeps the brightness while staying true to the tones of your hair.

The Dry Boost

Dry shampoo can be your best emergency volumising friend if nothing else is to hand. Pick your dry shampoo carefully (some still leave a white cast on the hair) and spray at least 5 inches away. If you spray it on the under layers of your hair and gently rub at the root, you’ll soon find you have more oomph.

The Fringe Friend

If you have a blunt cut fringe, the weight of hair means it’s an obvious candidate to droop! Next time you’re in a salon, ask your stylist to break up the weight by point cutting your fringe. The technique gives tiny layers that help it stay perky.

I’ve used the High Amplify (don’t worry – you don’t get too amplified!) range – there’s nothing not to like. The High Amplify Wonder Boost is very handy for my enternal fringe woes. Matrix Total Results are HERE.
