Magnetic Nail Polish

Even though magnetic nail polishes aren’t new (Lancome had one out in 2007 and L’Oreal released some named Star Magnet in Europe around the same time, too) they’re about to have another moment. German brand, Essence, also produced one last year.

For now, the front runner in the UK is LCN with a range of 8 magnetic shades that are really rather lovely. I have one here to try but haven’t quite got to it yet. They’re £8.95 each. If you haven’t tried a magentic polish yet, instructions are simple. Apply a thick coat of polish and hold one of the magnets (you have a diagonal or a star – I prefer the diagonal) and just hold it hovering over the surface of the polish while the polish is still wet til it does it’s thing (it pushes the polish around to mirror the pattern of the magnet) and moves into shapes on your nail. Annoyingly, you have to purchase the magnets seperately at £7.55 each.

I hear that there are at least two strong contenders in the pipeline to be released over the summer so I’ll report back when I’ve got more to tell.

  1. I have never heard of magnetic nail polish! Sounds interesting!

Heard of them but never got the chance to try them. They do look so appealing though. I suppose something different to draw us away from the crackle polishes. 🙂

I think Nails Inc are doing one too? Not sure if it’s too gimmicky, I’ve seen some swatches and it looks an awkward PITA to do for not great pay-off. I’d be happy to be proven wrong though!

  4. NailNewbie: yes I heard they are as well. Also one other brand that I know of but need some confirmation before I shoot off too soon lol !

  5. When I first read the title of the post I was a bit worried that you would be walking round attracting metal – imagine being in the office with paperclips all over your fingers lol!!

  6. Old Cow

I would love to try this out!

BTW Have you ever tried Konad nail stamping? That is STILL my fave nail art method!

  7. Interested on seeing more on these! Very cool!
