Kiko Hair Shadows

Well, Kiko are totally taking it on packaging with their Hair Shadows in Blue, Violet and Fuchsia. The colours (basically, hair chalks by another name) are extremely intense; the pink, even on my dark hair, showed up extremely well.

Billed as temporary, I was a little bit shocked at quite how temporary these are! I’m not all that experienced in hair chalks but when I came back to take some pics after putting the pink in my hair, it was completely gone – and we’re talking less than an hour. However, re-reading the instructions, I needed to put Hair Fixer on it. With that done, I left it another hour or so and there was so much fade it was unbelieveable. There was ‘some’ pink left but very reduced from what it had been at the start. So, either I didn’t use enough Fixer (although I think I was generous) or this product just doesn’t measure up. I also thought the Hair Fixer Spray () knocked some of the colour out. I’d say these are good for one evening and that’s it although there is plenty of chalk so it will go for many ‘one evenings’.

I noticed that all of Kiko’s hair products are on offer at the moment (and Hair Fixer isn’t on-line at all), so the Shadows are £6.20 each.

Do you have a way to make hair chalks stay? Please let me know, I’d like to try again.

  1. I’d really like to start using hair chalks….but my hair is very dark, so I figured they wouldn’t really show up. Interesting to hear that they did on yours…..?

I’d recommend the L’Oreal Professional Liquid Chalk then.. the pink on my dark brown hair showed up really well, and it lasts a good while as well x

      1. Thanks Jane! That’s really helpful…going to buy it now! 🙂 x

  2. I like the idea but I think as I now have brown hair I would need to hear a little more about the staying power.

  3. I get the impression that the only way to try and make them stay put is to completely coat your hair in hairspray, which will probably mean you’ll end up with a rather ‘crispy’ look 🙂

  4. Thanks for the reviews, don’t think I’ll be trying them!
