Invisibobble Around The World

One of the best ever finds has been Invisibobble – it’s just a humble little plastic ring configured in such a way that when you tie up your hair, removal doesn’t leave you with a crinkle wedge around the mid section of your hair. I tie mine up nearly every night because now that my Keratin treatment is wearing off, it looks like squirrels have torn at my hair by morning. I’ve blogged about Invisibobble before – and even included them in one of the BBB Dream Boxes because they’re so useful. And, they don’t tug on the way out, either…

The brand ran a competition – Invisibobble Around The World – for beauty bloggers in all countries to design a box for the Around The World theme and what I’m showing are the results. I like the little airmail box best. Four winning designs each got either a plane ticket to a destination of their choice or 1K EU. It’s quite forward thinking of Invisibobble to actually offer something of note as a prize – so many brands ask bloggers and vloggers to enter competitions or submit designs and ideas with absolutely nothing but the honour of appearing on a website or being retweeted as the ‘prize’. Something to do with exposure.. yawn.

The competition ran earlier in the year so I don’t know that there are any left from the Around The World collection (there must be some somewhere) but I found a nice Christmassy set at Boots for £3.75 HERE.

  1. Do they keep your hair up though? My hair is really thick and I always think they look like they wont have much support.

They do for mine but I wouldn’t say it’s exceptionally thick.. kind of average really.

  2. Thanks for featuring these, Jane, but for those more frugal buyers, you can find exact same designs on ebay for about 10 cents each ($1 for 10), just search plastic hair cord or something on ebay and it will come up. I’ve been using these for about 10 years now and they’re super popular in China.

I’ve actually bought the cheaper ones and the ones I had aren’t nearly as good, I promise #doesn’tworkforinvisibobble 😉

You can buy this collection on FeelUnique still

I have had bad experiences with these. Was recommended them by my sister’s hair-stylist boyfriend. All they did was serve to knot my hair and the strands would get trapped and then come out with the bobble. Also left ridges in my hair, although my hair has a natural wave to it that I have to battle against. They work for my sister but not for me. Be careful with these!

I tried them when you put them in one of your boxes last year, but they don’t work well with my really curly hair, I had real trouble getting them out again!

Oh no.. I have curly hair naturally but it’s straightened out all the time. I had a twitter commemt from someone with really curly hair who found them brilliant, so I think it sounds like it’s really down to hair type and curl extremity!

  6. Good on them for giving a real prize! So many businesses try to extract work for what amounts to free.

I sincerely doubt your hair looks all that bad, but I enjoyed the squirrel turn of phrase. 🙂
