Happy Christmas

Christmas posts are always tricky – not everyone has the TV ad perfect time. In fact, it’s rather difficult in a multitude of ways for many. Sometimes, the pressure of how you think you’re supposed to feel can bring the bleakest of all feelings. So, you will already know that I wish you all the happiness and good things but with that in mind, I’ve decided to share some numbers that might be useful if that bleakness strikes.

Firstly, you can text 077 2590 9090 – it’s a number run by the Samaritans and someone will text with you, or you can phone the Samaritans on 116 123.

It’s useful to remember that very rarely does the ‘perfect’ Christmas occur. Whether you’re on your own or with friends or family, make sure you get outside – no matter the weather – even if it’s just to go around the block. It’s just a quick refresh and can often stop sad feelings embedding. I have a friend who always spends Christmas alone (by choice) and the one thing she does is go to the park to feed the ducks. Every single Christmas Day no matter what. I think if your day is brightened by happy ducks that’s as good a Christmas as any.
