Every year I get a report from WordPress that gives me my stats and breakdowns for the year. It’s occurred to me that these numbers are absolutely not about me but all about you. So, I thought you’d like to know what you’ve been up to when you visit BBB!
All Around The World..The site had 4,500,000 (approx.) visits (thank you very much!) in 2015. The day that you most like to visit is Monday. On August 16th, you made a new record, with 24,679 visits, mostly to look at Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Palette. Of the 1,225 posts I made in 2015, Make Up Revolution Naked Palette from last January was the most viewed. You have visited from 203 different countries – leading with the UK but US and Germany following closely behind. My top referring sites that bring you to BBB are Twitter, Facebook and Blog Lovin. BBB now houses 7,694 posts (well, I guess now it’s 7,695!) and has been almost 8 years in the making. Now I know where all my time went!
I have to say a huge, huge thank you to one individual, Thom Watson at Manface, who deals with all my tech and design stresses with more patience than I think even he knew he possessed (but quite a lot of swearing). He is very much an essential part of #TeamBBB and I’m lucky to have him.
But the biggest thank you of all goes to everyone who pops into BBB, whether regularly or occasionally. I think if you read frequently, you’ll know it’s been a tough year in terms of being able to steer a steady course, and that I’ve really had to question whether I want to continue. I do, but so much more on my own terms. I’ve parted ways with one or two brands in 2015 on the grounds that if there’s nothing good at the back end I don’t want to give fuel to the front end, and I have a feeling there will be a few more goodbyes next year. There are 8,500 beauty brands in the UK. I’m not going to run out, but I am absolutely certain that if brands treat bloggers – any bloggers – as valueless or a sub-standard form of media, then they are not welcome at our party. I care more for integrity than stats. I have also many wonderful brands and their PRs to be grateful to, for their honesty, generosity and willingness to share with BBB readers.
So, anyway, thank you so much for all your support in 2015. I’m blessed for the readers that I have and don’t think for a single second that I don’t know it. I feel truly thankful for all of our conversations across Instagram, Periscope, Twitter, Facebook and here that make me feel like I have friends all over the world. I wish you everything good for 2016.
All that remains for me to do is find the crying-a-bit emoji.
