Right, well you know when things just don’t translate from other languages that well? That, with this. But, oh my goodness, the star product from Guerlain for Winter, Coque D’Or, is a reinterpretation of an original fragrance bottle from 1937.
Never mind the lipgloss, I got completely side-tracked by this amazing vintage book charting Guerlain – am now conducting a thorough Ebay search.
I didn’t have time to really pour through it – and it was being used as a prop for the event so I couldn’t even sneak it off into a corner, but the version for winter contains the famous Guerlain shimmering fragranced powder. Much as I’m not a shimmer fan, nobody does such a refined version of miniscule twinkles as Guerlain. I’ve got memories of being at Guerlain launches where the air was literally filled with twirling winks of glitter – and because Christmas launches always happen in summer, shafts of sunlight illuminating the atmosphere. Really, really a beautiful experience.
So, I won’t bust the whole Christmas look – it’s so rich and exciting that it needs a touch of autumn on it for it to really shine but there are some stunning things ahead… including the Petrouchka Palette (detachable bow) which I know I won’t be able to resist til autumn!
I just wanted to share these because they’re just so pretty. I will of course go into far more detail when I have the products to hand.
